AND, UH, CHRISTINA ASKED ME TO COME AND TALK TO YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT WE HAVE GOING ON IN DOWNTOWN, AND THEN ALSO OUR PARKS, UH, WHAT WE HAVE GOING ON IN PARKS.

SO WE HAVE A LOT GOING ON.

, WE'LL START THERE.

UM, WE USE OUR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, UH, WHICH INCLUDES MULTIPLE OTHER MASTER PLANS, UH, WATER, SEWER, PARKS, UH, THOROUGHFARE.

UM, AND THEN WE JUST FOLLOW THOSE.

UM, SO WE HAD THE DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN.

I THINK IT WAS APPROVED LIKE IN 2015.

UM, THERE WASN'T TOO MUCH OF THAT IMPLEMENTED UP UNTIL A COUPLE YEARS AGO.

UM, SO WE, WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO SINCE I'VE STARTED HERE IS JUST FOLLOW THAT PLAN.

UM, AND I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE HAD A CHANCE TO READ THAT, BUT I'LL GO OVER A FEW OF THE, UH, GOALS AND VISIONS AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE STARTED DOING, UH, TO TRY TO MEET THAT.

UH, SO THE FIRST ONE WAS PRESERVE THE HISTORIC BLOCK AND BETTER CONNECT WITH HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOODS.

SO RECENTLY WE PASSED AN ORDINANCE THAT CREATED A HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMITTEE, UH, SO THAT, UH, THAT COMMISSION COULD HEAR APPLICANTS THAT WANT TO DECLARE SOMETHING, A LANDMARK OR, UM, A HISTORIC, UH, NEIGHBORHOOD OR HISTORIC AREA.

UM, WE'VE STARTED PHASE ONE OF OUR MAIN STREET BEAUTIFICATION, UH, THAT KIND OF STARTED A COUPLE YEARS AGO WITH A GRANT THAT THE KEY HARVEY BEAUTIFUL, UH, GOT FROM TEXDOT AND WE'RE JUST NOW ABLE TO GET IT UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND MOVING.

UM, SO IT'S THE BLOCK THERE AT VETERANS.

I'M SURE YOU'VE GUYS SOME NOTICED, UM, IT'S ALMOST FINISHED.

UH, WE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF DELAY IN GETTING THE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS THAT WE NEED FOR THE FOOD TRUCKS.

UH, WE'RE LOOKING AT PEDESTALS THAT'LL HAVE THE TWO 50 AMP BREAKERS OR, OR PLUGS.

UH, AND THEN ALSO THE REGULAR ELECTRICAL PLUGS AS WELL.

UH, SO WE PLAN TO DO THE ENTIRE AREA.

UH, THE NEXT SECTION WILL BE A LITTLE BIT HARDER.

UM, THERE'S SOME DRAINAGE ISSUES THAT HAVE TO BE WORKED OUT.

I KNOW YOU'VE NOTICED ACROSS THE STREET AT THE, THE BUSINESSES, UH, THE ROAD SLOPES UP.

SO WE'VE, WE'VE GOT SOME ENGINEERING TO DO, BUT WE'VE GOT A PRETTY GOOD IDEA OF, OF WHAT WE CAN DO TO, TO MAKE THAT BETTER.

IT'LL INCLUDE THE CROSSWALKS, WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT WAS INCLUDED IN IN THE FUTURE PLAN.

I JUST HAVE A QUESTION ON THAT.

ARE THERE, IS THERE LIKE A, A STUDY ALREADY CONDUCTED OVER THERE ON THE SIDEWALKS WHERE THE, UH, BUSINESSES ARE IN THE DRAINAGE? THERE'S NOT, UM, WELL, LET ME BACK UP.

UM, THERE WAS, SO A COUPLE YEARS AGO, UM, IT'S KIND OF A LONG STORY, BUT A COUPLE YEARS AGO, THERE WAS SOME ENGINEERED PLANS.

UM, THERE WAS TWO DIFFERENT ENGINEERING FIRMS THAT WORKED ON IT.

AND, UM, WHEN IT GOT READY TO LET WITH TXDOT, UM, THEY DIDN'T MATCH UP.

UH, SO THE CONTRACTOR THAT GOT THE BID CAME OUT, LOOKED AT IT, SAID, I CAN'T BUILD THIS.

UM, THERE, THE, THERE WAS SOME WORK THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN DONE PRIOR TO HIM STARTING, AND IT WASN'T THERE.

UM, SO WE, WE REALLY WORKED ON IT FOR QUITE A WHILE WITH TXDOT.

UH, THE GRANT EXPIRED, BUT TXDOT AGREED TO CONTINUE IT FOR US BECAUSE THEY HAD SOME TURNOVER AS WELL THAT CAUSED SOME ISSUES.

IT REALLY WASN'T THE CITY'S FAULT, BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

UM, SO WE'RE STILL USING THAT SAME GRANT.

THAT WAS TWO GRANTS, ACTUALLY, THAT WERE APPROVED BACK IN 1920, IN, IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD.

SO, SO THERE WAS SOME ENGINEERING.

UH, SO WE DO KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT'S GONNA BE, UM, BUT IT'S DOABLE.

SO BACK UP AND CORRECT THAT, BUT WE HAVE NOT CONDUCTED THE ENGINEERING THAT NEEDS TO BE CONDUCTED TO BUILD IT.

THERE'S SOME OLD, OLD RECORDS.

UM, SIDEWALKS, UH, LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION, UH, JUST REALLY BEAUTIFY, UH, THE PARK, UM, THAT'S IN DESIGN NOW.

SO WE'RE HOPING TO FUND THAT IN OUR NEXT BUDGET.

WE'LL BE TAKING IT TO COUNCIL, ASKING FOR FUNDING FOR THAT, UM, FOR THIS OCTOBER.

THE OTHER, UM, ELEMENT, OR THE VISION, OR UH, GOAL WAS PUBLIC PARKING.

SO WHEN WE DO PHASE TWO OF MAIN STREET, THAT CURB AND GUTTER WILL ALREADY BE IN PLACE, AND WE'LL JUST CARRY IT ALL THE WAY DOWN.

UH, I THINK BEFORE MIKE HAD HIS QUESTION, I WAS GONNA TALK ABOUT THE CROSSINGS.

SO ON MAIN STREET, WE'RE ALSO, UM, GONNA INCLUDE THOSE.

UM, THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELEVATION, BUT, UM, WE, WE CAN WORK THAT OUT.

WE'RE LOOKING AT TWO CROSSINGS, TWO PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS, ONE PROBABLY, UM, THERE ON THE, UM, SOUTH SIDE OF THE MUSEUM, AND THEN POSSIBLY ONE AROUND CITY HALL, UM, TO GET ACROSS THE STREET.

AND WILL THOSE BE LIKE LIGHT PROTECTED OR SOMETHING? OR, OR JUST MOST LIKELY.

WE ALSO HAVE, UM, WE APPLIED TWO YEARS AGO FOR A SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL A GRANT, AND WE DIDN'T GET SELECTED.

WE'RE APPLYING AGAIN.

UM, IT'S DUE, UH, IN A COUPLE WEEKS.

UM, WE'LL BE SUBMITTING THAT ONE OF EMAILS.

LAST TIME WE, WE ALL HAD TO SUBMIT EMAIL.

DO YOU NEED THAT AGAIN? I DON'T THINK SO.

UM, WE'RE USING ENGINEERING FIRM TO HELP US PUSH THROUGH, AND, AND HE HASN'T ASKED ME FOR THAT, SO STANDBY , IF WE NEED IT AGAIN, WE'LL GET IT AGAIN.

UM, SO IT'S, UM, FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL ON SHERMAN ALL THE WAY UP TO BLACKJACK ON SHERMAN.

SO IT'D BE SIDEWALK, UH, EIGHT FOOT, YEAH, EIGHT FOOT FOR STROLLERS AND PEDESTRIAN IS WHAT WE'VE SUBMITTED FOR.

WE ALSO SUBMITTED FOR ONE AT WINDRIDGE, UM, TO GET FROM WINDRIDGE BOULEVARD TO THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

I THINK IT'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, UM, ALONG 1385.

SO WE'VE APPLIED FOR THAT ONE AS WELL.

HOPEFULLY, WE'LL, WE'LL GET THOSE.

WE'LL KEEP, UH, APPLYING.

UM, BUT ALSO WE WORK THOSE INTO OUR STREET PROGRAMS, OUR STREET BONDING.

UM, GATEWAYS AND WAY FINDING SIGNAGE, UM, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WAS IN THE, IN THE PLAN.

UM, SO SIGNAGE WOULD BE, WE, WE WOULD INCLUDE THAT AS WELL.

UM, EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF THE HISTORIC PEANUT MILL BUILDINGS.

WELL, THE PEANUT MILL BUILDING HAS BEEN, UH, TORE DOWN, AND AS OF LAST FRIDAY, WE OWN THE PEANUT DRYER.

SO WE HAVE ADOPTED A PARK DEVELOPMENT FEE, UM, FOR ALL NEW HOMES, UM, BUSINESS OR HOMES AND MO AND MULTIFAMILY THAT COME IN.

WE HAVE A, A FEE THAT THEY PAY PER HOME OR PER LOT.

UH, WE CREATED A PARKS DEPARTMENT AND HIRED A PARK SUPERINTENDENT.

WE'RE PLANNING A COMMUNITY MARKET, UM, I KNOW YOU GUYS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THAT.
